Actually, the Concept for Planet Hollywood was originated by Keith Barish, the film producer of “Sophie’s Choice, “9 ½ Weeks” and, “The Fugitive”. He met Robert Earl, who was described as the world most successful concept restaurateurs in 1989, and the two struck up a partnership. Soon afterwards, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis joined as shareholders and within a year lease had been signed on the New York site situated next to Carnegie Hall. Demi Moore signed on as shareholder during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Washington, D.C location, which opened in October of 1993.
The first Planet Hollywood was launched in New York in October 1991. Thousands of enthusiastic onlookers turned out to catch a glimpse of Bruce Willis and his Rhythm & Blues band, The Accelerator, as they celebrated the opening of the restaurant.
You can expect to see some of the world’s most valuable movie and television memorabilia.
